A Brigadier General in the Peruvian Army (EP), he has built a professional and academic career focused on security, defense, and military strategy studies in Latin America. His experience includes operational roles in highly complex environments, with specialized training in intelligence, information operations, special forces, and advanced parachuting, complemented by studies at Fort Gulick, the Monterey Naval Postgraduate School, and programs at the National Defense University (CHDS) focused on the study of terrorism and counterinsurgency, civil-military leadership, transnational organized crime, and hemispheric security. He holds master’s degrees in Development, Security, and National Defense and in Military Sciences, with a concentration in Strategic Planning and Decision-Making, as well as graduate studies in Political Science from Ricardo Palma University (URP). In the fields of teaching and research, since 2016 he has served as a research associate at the Regional Center for Strategic Security Studies (CREES) of the Army War College (ESDEGUE) and as a professor at the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU), the Center for Higher National Studies (CAEN), and the Army War College (ESGE-EPG). His academic career has been recognized with institutional honors, including the titles of Professor Emeritus from CAEN and ESGE-EPG, as well as an honorary doctorate. He has also been awarded the Peruvian Cross of Military Merit in the rank of Grand Officer, the Cenepa Victors’ Medal, and various multinational parachutist badges.
